Dr. Juergen Krause
Juergen Krause is the Director of the CHBMR and an Associate Professor in charge of the Biotech Stream in the MBA program at UPEI. He holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Konstanz, Germany and performed his postdoctoral studies at the University of Chicago, Illinois. Juergen has 22 years' experience in senior and executive positions in the Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical industry, most recently VP of R&D Strategy & Operations for Millennium Pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Michael Mayne
Michael Mayne is the Deputy Minister, Health & Wellness for the province of Prince Edward Island. He holds a B.Sc. from the University of Prince Edward Island and a Ph.D. in molecular biology and protein biochemistry from the University of Toronto. Dr. Mayne trained as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Manitoba. In 2003, Dr. Mayne was recruited by the National Research Council of Canada to direct the newly formed Institute of Health.
John Rowe
John Rowe is President of Island Abbey Foods Ltd and is the founder of the Timeless Group of Companies. He holds a B.A. with a major in economics and a minor in instrumental performance. Island Abbey Foods Ltd. recently opened a new production facility in The PEI BioCommons in September 2012. Future concentration and product development focus will be on active pharmaceutical ingredients and over-the-counter health products.
Dr. Denis Kay
Denis Kay is the Chief Scientific Officer and Project Manager at Neurodyn. He holds a B.Sc. and a M.Sc., both in biochemistry, from Dalhousie University. He went on to receive a Ph.D. in anatomy and cell biology from McGill University where he developed the first in vivo evidence of post-plasma membrane EGF receptor signaling. Dr. Kay joined Neurodyn in 2006 and also holds an appointment in the Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the Atlantic Veterinary College.
