Abstract On May 31, 2011, the Centre for Health and Biotech Management Research (CHBMR) hosted an event titled “Biotech-savvy Students: An Industry Perspective”, featuring guest speaker Robert Steininger, Senior Vice President, Development and Manufacturing for Acceleron Pharma. His presentation reviewed training programs in the Boston area and outlined the advantages and disadvantages for the students from the perspective of a potential hiring manager who has worked in the Research, Development, and Manufacturing associated with biopharmaceuticals for the last 26 years.

Abstract On July 8, 2010 the CHBMR hosted an event featuring guest speakers Dan Darnley, the Vice President and Chief Intellectual Property Officer at Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Dr. Jonathon O’Brien, chair on the Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group of the firm’s Corporate and Securities Department at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn. The presentation was held on the University of Prince Edward Island’s campus, where the speakers pointed out the common issues and potential problems that can arise around patents.

Abstract The CHBMR collaborated with Dr. Steven Casper, Fulbright Scholar and Director of the Bioscience Program, Keck Graduate Institute in California during the summer of 2009 and completed the first comprehensive survey of PEI's biotech cluster. The results were presented in August, 2009.
